Visual artist, master in art/education and PhD student with a Capes scholarship in Arts from the Institute of Arts of the São Paulo State University UNESP. Juliana has recently joined the collection of the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo by participating in the exhibition Enciclopédia Negra. The artist has been producing works in video, painting, performance, photography and multimedia, as well as investigating the blue color of the Clitória Ternátea flower as a possibility of color in the process of expanding the senses.
Her research is at the intersection of art, history and education, with an interest in the way black artists have engaged in practices to deal with the limits of representation.
She held her first solo exhibition in 2018, as a guest artist/teacher at the artistic residency of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Her first national solo exhibition was at the Season of Projects of Paço das Artes in 2019. She was awarded third place at the 16th Visual Arts Salon of Ubatuba. This year she was selected for the 12th Abre-Alas of A Gentil Carioca gallery (RJ). Also in 2021 she participated in the 12th edition of the Mercosul Biennial and is part of the team of artists at the Sesc Sorocaba Arts Triennial (2020/2021).
