Ybytu Artistic Residency
Open Call

The YBYTU residency was born from the desire of collectors Georgiana Rothier and Bernardo Faria to create an international program of artist residencies in São Paulo. With a long history of collaboration with several public and private institutions, the two decided to use the know-how accumulated over the years to create a project that reflected their ideas. The first residency in the form of a pilot project was scheduled to begin in April 2020. Today, four years later, YBYTU has already welcomed more than 15 resident artists. The main objective of this initiative is to promote a new opportunity for artists who seek time to think and explore their artistic practice in a studio context, and their relationship with the artistic and cultural environment.

Specifications:

  • The residency and all projects that arise from it will be monitored and discussed with the collectors and the curator of the residency, Luiza Teixeira de Freitas. The latter will have weekly meetings in virtual format with the resident.

  • The artistic residency consists of an apartment + studio. It takes place in an apartment (equipped and furnished, ready to be inhabited), with a studio space in Travessa Dona Paula, a small hub for the arts, in Higienópolis, São Paulo. The apartment is specifically designed for this purpose, with all necessary amenities included.

  • The residency program is exclusively for artists residing in Brazil.

  • The residency will last two months during 2025, with dates to be defined later.

  • A per diem allowance of R$100 will be allocated for food expenses, totaling R$6,100 for the duration of the residency.
