Lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil
Pedro Victor Brandão (Rio de Janeiro, RJ, 1985) works with photography, painting, moving image and social experimentation. He confronts the artistic traditions in assessments of the present and future of capitalism. His research combines different fields of knowledge, such as economics, the right to the city, cybernetics and the current manipulable nature of the technical image. Pedro studied photography at Estácio de Sá University in Rio de Janeiro and attended free courses at Parque Lage Visual Art School and the Summer University at Capacete. He held the solo shows “Pintura Antifurto”, in Casa França-Brasil (Rio de Janeiro), “Tela Preparada”, in Sé (São Paulo), and “Forjada e Outras Formas” in Portas Vilaseca Gallery (Rio de Janeiro), among others. He has participated in group shows such as “Vivemos na melhor cidade da América do Sul”, in Iberê Camargo Foundation (Porto Alegre), “Take Me, I’m Yours”, in Villa Medici (Rome), and “O Rio é uma Serpente”, in SESC (Sorocaba). As artist-in-residency he went to Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris), Terra UNA (Liberdade), Z/KU – Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik (Berlin, 2014), Lastro Centroamérica (Panama City), Residência Artística FAAP (São Paulo), and Pivô Arte e Pesquisa (São Paulo). His works are represented by Portas Vilaseca Gallery (Rio de Janeiro), Sé (São Paulo); and also by the platforms AsyncArt, Ephimera, and KnownOrigin
