Gisela Casimiro (Guinea-Bissau, 1984) is a Portuguese writer, artist, performer and activist. She graduated in Portuguese and English Studies from NOVA/FCSH. She works on identity, the body, memory, trauma, racism, post-colonialism and everyday life. Her practice involves photography, installation, collage and sound. She is the author of "Erosão" and "Giz" (poetry), "Estendais" (nonfiction) and "Casa com Árvores Dentro" (dramaturgy). She has taken part in exhibitions at O Armário and the Municipal Galleries of Porto and Lisbon, among others. Her work is included in the António Cachola Collection. She is a founding member of UNA - Union for Black Artists.
