Born in Niterói (RJ), lives and works in São Paulo. She holds a BA in Social Communication from UFRJ and a postgraduate degree in Film from The New School University (NY). Motta combines different techniques and artistic practices, mixing photography, video, installation, performance, sound art, collage, prints and textile materials. Her investigation seeks to reveal other corporeality, create meaning, re-signify memories and elaborate other forms of existence. She was awarded the Program Rumos Itaú Cultural 2015/2016, the ZUM Scholarship of Photography from Instituto Moreira Salles 2018 and the 7th National Industry Award Marcantonio Vilaça 2019. She recently participated in important exhibitions such as "Histórias Feministas, Artists After 2000" - MASP , “Afro-Atlantic Stories” - MASP/Tomie Ohtake. She opened her solo exhibition "Aline Motta: memory, travel and water" at MAR / Museu de Arte do Rio 2020.
